Two Model 1911 type pistols carved out of a meteorite found in Sweden in 1906 are expected to command a price as high as $1.5 million at an auction next month. Gunsmith Lou Biondo of Business End Customs was commissioned to fashion the working firearms out of the meteorite, which is believed to be up to 4.5-billion-years-old. This is the first time an item of this kind has been sold or auctioned, and it's anticipated the pair will go for between $1-$1.5 million. The event organized by Dallas-based Heritage Auctions will take place on July 20. which marks the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing. The reserve amount on the listing is set at $900,000. Two people have been arrested during a flag burning protest ahead of Donald Trump's 'Salute to America' Fourth of July celebration in Washington, DC. Political activist Gregory Lee 'Joey' Johnson was one of the people taken away in handcuffs during the demonstration outside of the White House two before the president's celebration is set to kick off, someone confirmed on his Twitter account. Johnson famously set fire to an American flag outside the 1984 RNC in protest of Ronald Reagan's policies. He was arrested and later charged under a Texas law that made it illegal to destroy or desecrate a venerated object - including the flag. He appealed the decision before the Supreme Court in the landmark case Texas v Johnson, which ruled that flag desecration is protected by the First Amendment as 'symbolic speech'.

A 5.4-magnitude aftershock hit Searles Valley, California - the epicenter of Thursday's powerful earthquake. The tremble was reported on Friday at about 4.07am local time, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS).The first earthquake, a magnitude-6.4, occurred on the morning of Independence Day and was felt from Las Vegas to San Diego, reported NBC Los Angeles. Several aftershocks - as many as 220 - followed within five hours of the original quake, but this is the strongest one yet. Experts had predicted Thursday that the massive earthquake could lead to another, more powerful quake in the next week.
