Trashy start to the holidays! A New Jersey garbage truck rolled off an overpass on to Route 495 on Wednesday, injuring at least a dozen people and causing extreme traffic delays near the Lincoln Tunnel. The Union City garbage truck went flying off the Palisade Avenue overpass and crashed onto Route 495 westbound at approximately 1pm, according to New York's Port Authority spokesman Steve Coleman. It crashed into a Bolt Bus that was traveling along Route 495, he explained to @police_frequency in the Telegram

6.4 magnitude earthquake struck Southern California amid Fourth of July celebrations. According to the US Geological Survey (USGS), the earthquake was reported near Searles Valley, a sparsely populated portion of the Mojave Desert. The USGS said the quake started 11 miles from Ridgecrest, California, around 10.33am. Fire crews are responding to at least 24 medical and fire incidents in Ridgecrest. A Ridgecrest resident shared video of her father's liquor store that was damaged by the earthquake.

In addition, two 60-ton Army Abrams battle tanks were sent to Washington by rail to be positioned on or near the National Mall, to the dismay of District of Columbia officials. And soldiers have been pictured working on an armored tanks in front of the Lincoln Memorial as other military vehicles have been pictured around the Capitol.
