Horror North Carolina shark attack! A 17-year-old girl has lost part of her leg and some fingers after they were bitten by a shark at a North Carolina beach on Sunday but she's still a big lover of the beasts. Paige Winter received 'deep lacerations to her leg, pelvic and hand areas' in the attack around noon at Fort Macon State Park, the Atlantic Beach Fire Department. Park ranger Paul Terry told WCTI-TV that it occurred while the teen was swimming and the girl's grandmother said her son bravely fought back when he 'punched the shark in the face five times before it let go'. 😱🦈
Franklin Pierce University senior CeCe Telfer clinched the women's 400-meter hurdles national title at the 2019 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships on May 25 in Kingsville, Texas. Sydneysiders have reacted with surprise to the sudden appearance of a People's Liberation Army frigate, an auxiliary replenishment ship, and an amphibious vessel docked at Garden Island. The warships docked at the Royal Australian Navy base was approved by the federal government last week, which played down the visit. 😳

Hundreds of veterans, the Queen and US President Donald Trump will attend the UK national memorial event on Wednesday to remember what is considered one of the most important events of the Second World War and the biggest amphibious invasion in military history. Later this afternoon more than 200 veterans will board a cruise ship in Portsmouth to make it to Normandy in time for the big day on Thursday. 🗿
Dutch airline KLM are funding a pioneering aeronautical project which could see the shape and layout of commercial aeroplanes changed forever. The stunning 'Flying-V' design, financially backed by KLM, has the same wingspan as existing planes and is able to carry up to 314 passengers. It is named after the iconic Gibson Flying-V electric guitar used by a number of legendary players - from Eddie Van Halen and Jimi Hendrix, to Brian May and Keith Richards. The concept craft, developed by researchers at Delft Technology University in the Netherlands, flares diagonally backwards from it nose to create the striking V-shape. Its designers say this unique configuration uses 20 per cent less fuel. The wings would host the passenger space, cargo hold, fuel tanks and all other infrastructure, it is believed. ✈️ #wow #future
