The shootout between rival gangs took place around 2pm local time in the Uruapan municipality in the western Mexican state of Michoacan. Disturbing photographs of the scene show bodies piled up next to military-grade machine guns. When police arrived on the scene gang members fled into the woods leaving behind nine dead, while another man died later of his injuries.
