A woman who drove into the middle of the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia was rescued after brave strangers swam out to her rapidly sinking SUV and smashed the windows with a tire iron. The woman was freed from the car just as it went underwater. She was later taken to hospital but no serious injuries were reported. One of the rescuers, Joseph Wentzell, said: 'It's what anyone would do. I just reacted.'
