World Pride March 2026
Amsterdam hosted World Pride for the first time this year, and I photographed the closing event: the WorldPride March on Saturday 8 August. It set off from President Kennedylaan at 16:30 and ended at Museumplein just after 18:15, with thousands of people walking through Amsterdam Zuid in between.
It was more a demonstration than a parade. Participants carried flags of countries where homosexuality is still criminalized. Alongside those, rainbow flags of every size, a few of them several meters long, and signs that people kept holding up so I could photograph the text.
It was the easiest crowd I have ever worked with. Nobody minded the camera, and it was not only the community out there. Allies, friends, entire families with kids walked the route. Check it out!
