Jiyong Lee is a Korean-American artist and professor known for his Segmentation series—sculptural works in glass that explore how complex structures emerge from simple units. Through the manipulation of optical glass, his work is inspired by microscopic biological forms and the conditions of life itself, exploring the interplay of translucency and internal geometry. His work has received international acclaim, including being named a finalist for the Loewe Foundation Craft Prize, receiving the Bavarian State Prize at the International Trade Fair in Munich, and receiving the Emerging Artist Award from the Glass Art Society. His sculptures are held in public and private collections, including The Corning Museum of Glass, the Barry Art Museum, and Chanel in France.
