Pavel Durov officially announced the introduction of a paid Telegram Premium subscription this month in his Telegram channel.
ยซAfter giving it some thought, we realized that the only way to let our most demanding fans get more while keeping our existing features free is to make those raised limits a paid option. That's why this month we will introduce Telegram Premium, a subscription plan that allows anyone to acquire additional features, speed and resources. It will also allow users to support Telegram and join the club that receives new features firstยป.
Pavel said that all Telegram's existing functions will remain free for everyone. Moreover, the app will continue to be updated with new publicly available features. And those users who will not buy a Premium subscription will be able to take advantage of some of its advantages: for example, viewing premium stickers with full-screen animations, downloading larger files, or adding a Premium response to a message (provided that all this is sent by a paid subscriber).
