Border 6 Fire Update:
Marron Valley along the U.S./Mexico Border, approximately 6 miles south of Dulzura, California.
The Border 6 Fire is now estimated at 1,000 acres and 5% contained, according to CAL FIRE.
Firefighters faced challenging conditions overnight as the fire made an estimated 300-acre run through rugged and highly inaccessible terrain. Fire activity moderated after sunset, aided by cooler temperatures and increased humidity, allowing crews to make progress on containment efforts.
Todayβs fire behavior will largely depend on weather conditions. Once the marine layer burns off and temperatures begin to rise, increased fire activity is possible across portions of the fire area. Winds and difficult access continue to present challenges for firefighters working the incident.
