A Franklin County deputy is in the hospital after he was shot while chasing a suspect Thursday night near Louisburg.
Sheriff Kevin White said in a social media post that: Deputy Taylor Lucas was attempting to apprehend a suspect when the suspect opened fire.
During the encounter, Deputy Lucas was struck by gunfire and transported to a local hospital for treatment. The deputy’s current condition has not been released.
The suspect was apprehended following the incident, and authorities have confirmed there is no ongoing threat to the community.

This is preliminary information as we are still in the early stages of this investigation:
At around 3:30 am, Central Division officers conducted a traffic stop on a stolen Nissan Sentra near the intersection of Gladys and 8th Street.
The vehicle was occupied by a driver and a front passenger.
Officers were in the process of ordering the occupants, who were not cooperating with officers, out of the car to conduct a high-risk felony stop when the front passenger was manipulating items in front of him, one of which appeared to be a handgun, and an officer-involved shooting occurred. The suspect was struck by gunfire and taken into custody.
The suspect, described as a male adult, was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was treated for gunshot wounds and is listed in stable condition.
The suspect’s weapon remains at scene and will be analyzed by the Firearms Analysis Unit and booked as evidence.
No officers or bystanders were injured during this incident.

UPDATE: LUKE AIR FORCE BASE, Ariz. - At approximately 10:28 a.m., Luke Air Force Base initiated lockdown procedures in response to a report of a potential active shooter incident occurring on the installation.
As of 11:21 a.m., the lockdown at Luke AFB was lifted.
The 56th Security Forces Squadron and local law enforcement authorities responded immediately and cleared the affected area. No active threat was found. All base operations have been instructed to continue as normal.
"Any report of a potential threat to our people, installation, or equipment is taken seriously at Luke AFB," said Brig. Gen. David Berkland, 56th Fighter Wing commander. "We initiated lockdown procedures to protect our people while our Security Forces Defenders and law enforcement partners assessed the situation. We use these measures decisively and proactively, and today they worked exactly as intended."
"The safety of our Airmen, tamilies, and community IS always our top priority," Berkland added. "We appreciate everyone's patience and cooperation as we worked through this as a team."
Rely on official Luke AFB communication channels for accurate, timely information. Base leadership encourages personnel and families to continue normal activities and for questions, please contact the 56th Fighter Wing Public Affairs Office.

Hey FELDMAN! A Florida woman is accused of killing both of her ex-husbands in two separate shootings on the same day.
According to Manatee County authorities, 48-year-old Susan Erica Avalon shot and killed an ex-husband in Manatee County on Wednesday afternoon, then another ex-husband in Tampa later that day.
Detectives say Avalon used stolen food from Panera Bread as a trick to get the Manatee County man to open his front door.
“When this victim opened the door, the suspect started to fire immediately,” a Manatee County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson said.
License plate readers tracked her silver Honda Odyssey from Citrus County to Hillsborough County, across the Sunshine Skyway Bridge into Manatee County, and back home after the shootings, according to investigators.
When detectives arrived at Avalon’s Citrus County home, they said they found her cleaning the minivan with bleach and rags.
During questioning, when asked to discuss her ex-husband, Avalon replied, “Which one?”
That answer led investigators to ask Tampa police to conduct a welfare check at a residence on Frierson Avenue Wednesday night.
Officers found an adult man inside the home dead from multiple gunshot wounds, with damage to a rear door that appeared to show forced entry, authorities said.
According to Tampa police, they believe that this shooting is related to the Manatee County homicide investigation, with detectives saying the shooter and victim were known to one another.
Homicide detectives said they are working in coordination and have identified credible evidence indicating the cases are indeed related.
Both agencies are working with the state attorney’s office to determine what charges, if any, apply in the Tampa case.
