A South Florida police officer was hospitalized early Sunday morning after being involved in an overnight crash.
It happened at approximately 3:20 a.m. in the area of Southwest Seventh Street and 12th Avenue.
According to Miami police, the officer was responding to a call when his vehicle was T-boned by someone driving a silver SUV.
First responders rushed the injured officer to the Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital. Officer Kenia Fallat, a spokeswoman for the police department, confirmed that the officer suffered a pelvic fracture and possible lung issues.
Residents Reinaldo Machado and his wife, Ercilia Ortiz, heard the loud crash.
It was their grandson who ran out the door towards the crash, to try and help the officer.
Authorities said the officer was alert and is considered in stable condition. Please join us in sending prayers and, or positive thoughts for his recoveryππ½

A Florida woman has been charged with manslaughter after authorities say her two pit bulls fatally mauled a 50-year-old neighbor. According to reports, neighbors had made more than a dozen calls regarding the dogs before the fatal attack.

Captain Michael Reader has retired from the Delaware State Police after 32 years of service.
Michael began his career with the Delaware State Police on November 1, 1994, as a recruit in the 63rd DSP Academy Class. Following graduation, he completed field training and was assigned to Troop 6.
Throughout his career, Michael served in several special units, including an assignment as a K9 Handler and as a member of the Tactical Control Unit and the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit.
In 2003, Michael earned a promotion to Sergeant, remaining at Troop 6 until his promotion to Lieutenant in 2007, when he was assigned to the DSP Academy and later to Troop 1.
Michael earned his final promotion to Captain in 2009 and, over the years, served as commander of the Office of Strategic Development, Troop 1, Troop 6, and Troop 9. In February 2024, he began his final assignment in the Traffic Unit. His leadership helped guide the Unit responsible for recordkeeping of statewide crashes, monitoring the rules of the road, and providing proactive enforcement across Delaware roadways. Well done Brother! π

NEW: Two people are dead after the stolen SUV they were driving crashed into an Oakland police vehicle, injuring an officer on Monday.
The incident happened just after 11 a.m. on E. 12th Street near 29th Avenue.
According to the Oakland Housing Authority, one of its officers spotted the SUV
driving erratically and attempted to pull it over, but the suspects sped off. The officer did not engage in a pursuit.
The two people in the stolen SUV were pronounced dead at the scene.
A third suspect ran away from the scene after the crash but was taken into custody a short time later by an Oakland Housing Authority officer.
The officer was taken to
the hospital, but his condition is unknown at the time.
