*Need advice on how to handle this.*

ok so this is one heckkk of a story! but i neeeed to Vent! I(f18) have lived with my roommate (f34) for less than a year now. I met roommate at one of my foster homes she was my case counselor. I want to say first for context she bought a house and offered me to rent me a room for only $400 and only pay light and whatever food/drinks and neccesites I may need (I have a mini fridge in my room) I had to move out of my foster home due to becoming of legal age. So I instantly took her offer as I had just started a job at Starbucks, and it was only 10mins away from her new house. 4 months after moving in I realized she wouldn't clean up after herself, she constantly leaves dishes over night sometimes days, and would have friends over until 3am just drinking and being loud. She sleeps all day although she said she has work? She lies about little things even if itโ€™s like โ€œI washed that potโ€ pot was never washed. I never complain because Im beyond grateful to have a home and someone to be able to count on. Over the weekend I came home and found the electric bill that was way overdue, and I wrote her. see screenshots below. I knew something wasn't right, but I trusted her. BOY WAS I WRONG! Tuesday when I got home from work, I decided to take a nap and woke up to a freezing house and no lights. I wrote her and you can see above that, that I had no choice but to pay $525.67 to turn them back on. When I signed in, I noticed she had missed payment arrangements, and in fact has NOT been paying the light bill although I've been sending her the money faithfully. Last night I overheard her on the phone tell someone she had a job interview this morning. but I wasn't even aware she was without a job or looking for a new one (which I know its technically not my business) as she's my landlord. Does anyone have any amazing advice here? I'm feeling hopeless. As she has now left me with zero money and continues to lie to me about things that are obviously not true. Its cold out which means ill have no choice but to walk to work as I can't uber now. Should I confront the situation? Or just swallow my pride and hope she pays me back next week, and try and get a new job? Idk. this is my first time ever having a roommate who isnt in foster care, or in a group home. TLDR; roommate lied about paying light bill, had to pay $520 to turn lights back on. Roommate continues to lie about little things and Iโ€™m feeling hopeless. submitted by /u/dancinggqueeenn to r/badroommates [link] [comments]

*4 years ago I was homeless. This is my place now.*

4 years ago I was homeless after escaping an abusive long term marriage. I escaped with practically and built myself up from scratch. No job or work history, no alimony, no child support for my kids. Iโ€™ve made it a sanctuary for me and my daughters. submitted by /u/Positive_Pirate3466 to r/femalelivingspace [link] [comments]
