*How should I approach this next?*

I (F21) have a roommate (F23) who I have lived with for two years now. For the most part we get along very well and have never had any issues. Last month my roommate reached out to me and let me know she was having issues with her “payroll system” and wouldn’t be able to cover her rent. I offered to cover her as it’s never been an issue with her actually paying rent or bills. Since the 6th I’ve been asking her about her paycheck and she just beats around the bush about it, and states that they’re running behind or another excuse (Once the 7th came I realized she might be lying about it all) I let a few days go by until this morning I realized I am down to my very last dollar and decided to approach her again. This was the response I got.. for context yes I did donate my kidney and when disability didn’t kick in right away with my job she covered me for a week until it was sorted out. I also work part time now that winter session has started for me, so I’m not making as much as I usually do. I know the general thumb rule is don’t lend out what you can’t afford to lose, at the time I thought I didn’t have anything to lose. Boy was I wrong. TLDR; roommate owes me rent; keeps coming up with excuses. We’re both also on lease.
