*Stock Market Today: Stocks lower on China-rating risk, soft-landing doubts*
Check back for live updates throughout the trading day. U.S. equity futures slipped on Tuesday, extending a broader market pullback tied to concern about the timing of Federal Reserve rate cuts. Investors looked to the first of a series of key labor-market reports that could clarify the case for central bank support. Investor sentiment, which was rattled by Monday's sharp move higher in Treasury bond yields, took another hit overnight. That's when Moody's Investors Service lowered its outlook on China's A1 credit rating, citing risks liked to property and local government debt alongside "persistently lower medium-term economic growth." The decision tipped China shares sharply lower, with the benchmark CSI 300 falling 1.9% to the lowest level in nearly five years. The move underscored concern that a fading recovery in the world's second-largest economy could increase the risk of a global slowdown in the coming year.ECB's Schnable offers dovish rate comments The MSCI World Index, the broadest measure of global stocks, fell 0.43% from a four-month high in overnight trading. But stocks in Europe found support through dovish rate comments from European Central Bank official Isabel Schnabel. Speaking with Reuters, Schnabel said another rate hike in the region was "unlikely" given cooling inflation prospects, cementing the case for a March reduction in the bank's main deposit rate. Her comments also pulled benchmark German 10-year bond yields to an early June low of 2.28%, helping 10-year Treasury yields retrace some of yesterday's rise to trade at 4.243% in the early New York session. The regionwide Stoxx 600 index was last seen 0.1% lower on the session in early Frankfurt trading while Britain's FTSE 100 was marked 0.66% lower in London.First up in U.S. labor data: Jolts report In the U.S., markets are likely to key on the first of three closely watched labor-market data reports over the next four days. El-Erian (@elerianm) December 5, 2023 On Wall Street, futures contracts tied to the S&P 500 are indicating a 17-point opening-bell decline while those linked to the Dow Jones Industrial Average are suggesting a 70-point pullback. The Nasdaq, which fell 120 points on Monday amid a broader retreat for megacap tech stocks, is called 90 points lower. In other markets, global oil prices edged higher in the overnight session as officials from Saudi Arabia attempted to talk up their commitment to recently agreed OPEC production cuts. But gains were limited amid concern for the level of near-term demand from China. Brent crude contracts for February delivery, the global benchmark, were marked 34 cents higher at $78.38 per barrel. WTI futures contracts for January were up 42 cents at $73.46 per barrel.Action Alerts PLUS offers expert portfolio guidance to help you make informed investing decisions. Sign up now.

*CVS Health higher on dividend boost and solid 2024 revenue forecast*
Updated at 7:48 AM EST CVS Health (CVS) - Get Free Report shares jumped Tuesday after the group boosted its quarterly dividend, while forecasting stronger-than-expected 2024 sales. The health-care and drugstore group looks to streamline its broader business amid renewed talk of consolidation in the health-insurance sector. CVS sees overall revenue of at least $366 billion next year, firmly ahead of the LSEG forecast of around $346 billion, with adjusted profit coming in at around $8.51 per share. The group also reiterated its 2023 forecasts for adjusted profit in the region of $8.50 to $8.70 a share as well as cash flows from its overall business to come in between $12.5 billion to $13.5 billion. CVS lifted its quarterly dividend by 10%, to 66.5 cents a share, payable Feb. 1 to holders of record Jan. 22. "We are successfully executing on our strategy to advance the future of health care while unlocking new value for consumers," said CEO Karen Lynch. "The combination of our businesses, and the key growth areas we have invested in, drive our ability to lower the total cost of care, improve health outcomes, and deliver on our commitments to our customers, consumers, and shareholders." CVS shares were marked 2.95% higher in premarket trading to indicate an opening bell price of $70.50 each, a move that would nudge the stock into positive territory for the past six months.CVS rebrands health services division The Woonsocket, R.I., group, one of the country's biggest pharmacy-benefits managers, also unveiled plans to rebrand its Health Services segment under the name CVS Healthspire. That division will include a host of its current units, including Oak Street Health, Signify and its MinuteClinic. "Delivering care in a more integrated way — especially for complex patients with chronic health conditions — improves health outcomes and the patient experience," said Oak Street Health's interim president, Mike Pykosz.Related: Cigna tumbles on Humana merger talk reports; FTC already probing PBMs Late last month, the Wall Street Journal first reported that CVS rivals Cigna (CI) - Get Free Report and Humana (HUM) - Get Free Report had entered early-stage merger talks that would create one of the largest health insurers in the country and challenge the market dominance of UnitedHealth (UNH) - Get Free Report. A big impediment to any potential tie-up between Cigna and Humana, however, would likely come from the Federal Trade Commission, which has taken a far more active role in challenging megamergers under the leadership of Lina Khan. The FTC has, in fact, cautioned the three largest pharmacy-benefit mangers – CVS's Caremark, Cigna's Express Scripts and UnitedHealth's OptumRx – of likely changes to the industry's broader regulation.Action Alerts PLUS offers expert portfolio guidance to help you make informed investing decisions. *Grand Theft Auto VI trailer release leak hits Take-Take shares*
Updated at 7:52 AM EST Take-Two Interactive (TTWO) - Get Free Report shares slumped lower Tuesday after the videogame maker arranged the early release of a trailer for its highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI title. The new release, which comes nearly a decade after the previous title in the popular videogame franchise, will be available in 2025, Take-Two said, and will mark the 25th anniversary of its collaboration with Rockstar Games, the division that created the original title. The new Grand Theft Auto trailer, however, had been scheduled for debut later this morning. Indications from Rockstar suggested portions of the trailer were leaked online, compelling the company to bring forward its release time. Last year, a hacker known as teapotuberhacker was able to gain access to several videos of gameplay from the new Grand Theft Auto VI release and and posted them to a GTA-focused message board. Our trailer has leaked so please watch the real thing on YouTube: https://t.co/T0QOBDHwBe— Rockstar Games (@RockstarGames) December 4, 2023 “'Grand Theft Auto VI' continues our efforts to push the limits of what’s possible in highly immersive, story-driven open-world experiences,” said Rockstar Games Founder Sam Houser. “We’re thrilled to be able to share this new vision with players everywhere.” Take-Two shares were marked 3.2% lower in premarket trading to indicate an opening bell price of $152.60 each, a move that would still leave the stock more than 50% higher for the year. Benchmark analyst lauds GTA potential The Grand Theft Auto VI trailer was last seen to have around 9.9 million views on Google-owned YouTube and could provide a compelling boost to both the gamemaker's current offerings and the 2025 release. "The upcoming release of the new Grand Theft Auto game is expected to generate substantial enthusiasm, acting as a key driver for current Rockstar Games titles and live services, including 'Grand Theft Auto 5', 'Grand Theft Auto Online', and the 'Red Dead Redemption' franchise,'" said Benchmark analyst Mike Hickey. "The anticipated release of 'Grand Theft Auto Next' is likely to boost TTWO's growth significantly in fiscal years 2025 and 2026," he added. "We believe 'Grand Theft Auto Online Next' could be a major valuation catalyst, potentially adding an incremental $1 billion in annual live service revenue, while continuing the success of the original 'Grand Theft Auto Online,' which has maintained player engagement for a decade."Action Alerts PLUS offers expert portfolio guidance to help you make informed investing decisions.
