*I made the mistake of asking my wife for an open marriage and I regret it*

I feel like a complete idiot here. My wife and I have been married for 19 years. We have one child. Our daughter moved out this summer after she enlisted in the armed forces. I love my wife but I felt like the spark was gone from our lives. I didn't want to divorce her so I proposed an open marriage. She was upset initially but eventually she agreed. Like I said in the title of my post I made a mistake. I have learned that just because I wasn't as attracted to my wife as I was when we got married it doesn't mean other men would feel the same. My wife has so many men and dates she doesn't know what to do with them all. Meanwhile it's the opposite for me. Not only that but after my wife agreed to an open marriage I asked a woman who was a colleague of mine out on a date. I was a manager at my job but I wasn't her manager. We worked in completely different divisions and our work had nothing to do with each other's jobs. But even though I wasn't her manager and I am in an open marriage she complained to her manager and showed HR my messages. I lost my job. I told my wife I want to close our marriage again because I was an idiot for suggesting it in the first place. She said no, she's happy with how things are. It's killing me when I know she is with other men. My brother called me a moron when I told him and said expecting my wife to look like she did when she got married made me a dunce. He even went so far as to say she takes good care of herself and is in great shape for 44, she just doesn't look 20. He had the nerve to say my wife looks better than me and I could stand to lose some weight. I love my wife and I don't want a divorce. I never wanted a divorce which is why I proposed this in the first place. But she doesn't want to close the marriage. I'm not worried about money because we both work but I do not want a divorce. I'm just glad my daughter enlisted in the RCAF and isn't here to see our marriage falling apart. submitted by /u/Green-Waterways-1482 to r/TwoHotTakes [link] [comments]

*What are some movies that play it completely realistic for almost the entire duration, but then introduce fantasy/supernatural/sci-fi elements towards the end?*

One example I can think of, that's maybe a little more open to debate, is the original Halloween. There's really nothing that would indicate that Michael Myers is anything more than an escaped mental patient, but then at the end he vanishes after getting shot point blank six times and falling off a second story balcony. It's enough to make you think "hmm...was that guy something more than a normal human?" Of course, the later sequels would turn him into a supernatural boogeyman, but you really don't get that reveal in the original until the last couple of minutes. So what would be some other examples of this type of thing, where some unrealistic elements get thrown in at the end of an otherwise realistic movie? submitted by /u/CTipple1981 to r/movies [link] [comments]

*AITAH for showing up to my boyfriend’s house to a “family dinner” in lingerie*

My boyfriend (35) and I (29) have been dating for 6 months. On Friday night we made plans to have a night in I was going to go over, we planned on making dinner together, watch movies, and I was to spend the night. On Thursday I had some Holiday shopping to do. while shopping after work and saw some cute lingerie, I thought I’d surprise my boyfriend with it on Friday night so I bought it. Friday after work I took a shower, did my hair, makeup, and got dressed. It’s pretty cold where we live so I put on some knee high boots the lingerie and a knee length coat only lol. And headed to my boyfriend’s apartment. He gave me a key recently so I used it to get in since he knew I was coming over and had plans together. To my surprise when I got there he was not alone his mom was in from out of state. This was my first time meeting her. My boyfriend and his mom kept telling me to take off my jacket but I couldn’t because all I was wearing was lingerie. After I couldn’t say no any longer. The only thing I could come up with was asking my boyfriend if he could give me my sweats I keep at his apartment because I was so cold. When we got into his room he asked me why I was being so weird about my jacket and why I wouldn’t take it off. When I told him, he busted out laughing. I did as well to be fair he told me he was sorry about his mom but she came in out of state on a surprise visit. After recovering from the laughter my boyfriend well being a guy said can I at least see it before you change. I let him because that was the whole point…. He walked over to kiss me while he was kissing me his mom opened the door and lost it. She started calling me a whore and screaming about me fucking her son in her face. My boyfriend was angry and started yelling at her as well about her being unfair and not knocking on the door before opening it. Needless to say meeting her went terribly, my boyfriend kicked his mom out, and I feel so bad about the whole thing. So AITHA? *The ONLY reason I sort of feel like the asshole is because of the issue and riff between my bf and his mom now. I don’t really know what else I personally could have done differently. * submitted by /u/SprinkleGlitter7 to r/AITAH [link] [comments]
