*Am I in the wrong here?*
So I moved into a flat on my own in the beginning of the year and the rent is $390 a week. I work full-time Monday to Friday and have a wage that is manageable to pay it with my other expenses but it is tight. My best friend lived in another state up until about August but asked if she could stay with me for her placement for Uni, in which she was not getting paid for, but she gets benefits for the Government for being a student. To accomodate her and make it fair, I told her she could stay with me if she contributed $100 to the weekly rent. The thing is, she has finished her placement as of about a month ago now and doesn’t have a job, and she is still staying with me. She does still try to make the payments but occasionally misses them. Since she is unemployed she is usually just doing her own thing and either goes out for the day or loiters around the house until I get home around 6pm. My boyfriend is a bartender and works late hours and weekends, so our schedules clash a fair amount. He finished work at 9pm last night and drove 40 minutes to my flat so he could see me and spend the night. My friend was out at her boyfriends house and stayed over at his last night. My boyfriend has the night off tonight so he asked if he could sleep in today since he worked late and was exhausted and he wanted to just stay in my room / in the local area if he goes out because he wants to have a date night tonight and thought it would be pointless to drive 40 minutes home then 40 minutes back today when he is already sleeping in most of the day. I gave my friend the heads up that he was sleeping at the house and she was pretty unhappy with it — I tried to do what she asked in getting him to leave but honestly I don’t really think it’s her place to dictate it. He is asleep in my room and does not interact with her because she doesn’t want him to, I have told her she can share the space and she is welcome in the house and won’t be bothered by him at all. It feels a little frustrating that I have to give in to her demands all the time when it is my place and she is staying with me for pretty much a quarter of the rent. I also handle all the bills like gas and electricity and pay for the groceries since she is unemployed and can’t afford it. My boyfriend is a bartender and works late hours and weekends, so our schedules clash a fair amount. He finished work at 9pm last night and drove 40 minutes to my flat so he could see me and spend the night. My friend was out at her boyfriends house and stayed over at his last night. My boyfriend has the night off tonight so he asked if he could sleep in today since he worked late and was exhausted and he wanted to just stay in my room / in the local area if he goes out because he wants to have a date night tonight and thought it would be pointless to drive 40 minutes home then 40 minutes back today when he is already sleeping in most of the day. I gave my friend the heads up that he was sleeping at the house and she was pretty unhappy with it — I tried to do what she asked in getting him to leave but honestly I don’t really think it’s her place to dictate it. He is asleep in my room and does not interact with her because she doesn’t want him to, I have told her she can share the space and she is welcome in the house and won’t be bothered by him at all. It feels a little frustrating that I have to give in to her demands all the time when it is my place and she is staying with me for pretty much a quarter of the rent. I also handle all the bills like gas and electricity and pay for the groceries since she is unemployed and can’t afford it. So I moved into a flat on my own in the beginning of the year and the rent is $390 a week. I work full-time Monday to Friday and have a wage that is manageable to pay it with my other expenses but it is tight. My best friend lived in another state up until about August but asked if she could stay with me for her placement for Uni, in which she was not getting paid for, but she gets benefits for the Government for being a student. To accomodate her and make it fair, I told her she could stay with me if she contributed $100 to the weekly rent. The thing is, she has finished her placement as of about a month ago now and doesn’t have a job, and she is still staying with me. *What book have you read that was actually WORSE than the movie?*
I LOVE Alfonso Cuarón’s sci-fi action movie Children of Men. I’ve watched maybe six times and every time, the ending always almost brings me to tears. So when I learned it was adapted from P.D. James’ book of the same name, it was a no-brainer deciding what my next book would be. After finishing the book, it wasn’t difficult to reach to the conclusion that I enjoyed the movie better. While James’ book gives a more in-depth look at how human infertility and humanity’s slow death march towards extinction affects the sexual dynamic between men and women and almost demented ways humans try to cope with a world without children or a race of dead men walking, I feel the book dedicates WAY too much time describing the failing of human civilization and the Regrets and guilt of Theo Faron. It’s not even until after 2/3 through the book where it feels like the plot and story are properly paced and stuff of consequence actually begin to happen. The film’s adaptation by, comparison, feels consistent in its pacing and the world building and woe-is-mes of Theo feel more compact a take up less of the audience’s time.
