*I bought the spin scrubber Amazon shoppers call 'magical,' and it's on sale for the first time since Black Friday*

TheStreet aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission. Last year, I moved into a 100-year-old house with a shower and bathtub that had seen better days. One of the first things I did upon arrival was scrub the entire thing with a sponge and brush, but saw little improvement. I thought the stains were too old to remove, and that the grout between the tiles must just be that color. As a last-ditch effort to remove the discoloration, I purchased the Leebein Electric Spin Scrubber on Black Friday for just $40, and it's on sale again right now for the first time since then. It wasn’t until it arrived that I realized how filthy my shower and tub actually were. Courtesy of Carly Kulzer This small yet mighty gadget is my favorite purchase of 2023 and has left me in awe with its quick and effortless results. I can’t believe it only costs $40, considering it’s wireless and waterproof with eight interchangeable brush heads made to target different types of jobs. All you have to do is pop them on and off the base, so switching back and forth is a cinch. (Although it can be used with water, the scrubber should not be completely submerged.) Leebein Electric Spin Scrubber, $40 (was $50) at Amazon Courtesy of Amazon It can be used as a handheld scrubber, which is my personal favorite, or as an extended brush thanks to its adjustable rod that measures 12- to 54-inches long. Another perk is it offers two spin speeds—fast and slow—that are changed just by pressing the power button. These features make it incredibly versatile and suitable for cleaning all sorts of surfaces like bathtubs, showers, sinks, countertops, mirrors, floors, ceilings, baseboards, and more. You have to apply light pressure on stubborn stains, but it mostly does the work for you and clears grime away within seconds. Surprises like this usually leave me speechless, but I found myself telling everyone who would listen to buy one for themselves immediately. I’ll be honest, I wasn’t expecting a $40 cleaning tool to work so well, let alone have a decent battery life. I thought that since it was working so hard, there was no way it was going to last more than 10 minutes, and boy was I proven wrong. My entire bathroom was cleaned top to bottom on a single charge, and although it was running low, it still had some juice left afterward. It takes roughly three hours to fully charge and runs for up to 90 minutes, which is more than enough time for a thorough clean. You’ll always know how much life is left with its LED light indicator bars. It’s no shock that this device has over 6,000 five-star ratings and has sold more than 10,000 times in the past 30 days. Several people agree that this gadget really is worth the hype, and one shopper called it “magical” adding that it, “has cut my cleaning in half.” Other reviewers claim it “saves” their backs and knees from having to bend over. The Leebein Electric Spin Scrubber helped me realize how disgusting my bathroom was, and now it looks brand new again. These days, I look forward to cleaning just so I can use my spin scrubber because the results are almost instant and so satisfying.

*Viral video reveals that Stanley cups have become a source for bullying*

America’s Stanley cup obsession appears to have just taken a nasty turn. The viral drinkware brand – manufactured by Pacific Market International – which is most famous for its insulated Tumblers that are usually priced between $35 to $45, has now become a source for bullying in schools, according to a viral video on TikTok. In the video, which has garnered more than 3 million views on the platform, a woman named Dayna Motycka revealed that her 9-year-old daughter came home from school upset after she was bullied at school for carrying an off-brand cup that was purchased at Walmart that had a strong resemblance to the viral Stanley cup. Related: Cloudflare CEO responds after video of employee's layoff goes viral “On the second day back to school after Christmas break, she comes home,” said Motycka in the video. “She's not crying, she's just upset. The girls, all the other girls in her grade, I'm not saying all, maybe, she said 9/10 of them, all got Stanley's for Christmas, and they made sure to let her know that this is not a real Stanley, that this is fake, and it's not as cool.” Motycka then explained in the video that her daughter later asked her if she could have a real Stanley cup, and she agreed to purchase one for her after seeing her daughter visibly upset. Motycka also clarifies that she was trying to teach her kids that they have to earn and work for things in life instead of just handing it to them. “If you're a mom, if you're a parent, and if you can do something to keep your child from getting made fun of to help fit in, you're gonna do it,” said Motycka. “So we went and bought her a 30 ounce Stanley. In our area, at our local Ace Hardware, these are $35. Can we afford to buy her Stanley? Yes. Did I think that she needed one? No. Apparently I've been proven wrong by the children in our school that are making fun of her for not having a real name-brand Stanley. ” In the video, Motycka also encourages parents to teach their children how to properly treat others who have different things. “We have got to teach our kids to not make other kids feel inferior for not having the things that they have. That's it. That's where it starts, and it starts with us as parents,” said Motycka. @dayna_motycka I in fact did not keep it short and sweet

*Walmart announces major store closures for 2024*

We may only be three weeks into the new year, but many retail stores are already thinking about how to shore up their profits for the upcoming fiscal 2024. 2023 was wrought with store closures and bankruptcies, and many of the remaining retailers are already closely evaluating the upcoming year for potential weak spots, pitfalls, and obstacles. Related: Costco shoppers buying up cheap dupe for popular $1200 luxury item Take, for example, the state of drug stores last year. CVS (CVS) - Get Free Report, Rite Aid, and Walgreens (WBA) - Get Free Report closed hundreds of stores across the country in areas of underperformance and even more were forced to lock up merchandise that were frequent targets of theft. Yet others struggled with bankruptcy. Filings in the U.S. hit the highest level in 13 years in 2023, with 50 stores filing for bankruptcy in December 2023 alone. March saw the most in 2023, with 67. It didn't matter if you were in the household products segment like Bed Bath & Beyond (BBBY) - Get Free Report or the real estate corner like WeWork (BOWX) - Get Free Report, if you weren't minding your merchandise and keeping a close eye on inefficiencies, you probably weren't' safe. Even the giants who might have previously seemed impenetrable to downturns, like Amazon (AMZN) - Get Free Report and Walmart (WMT) - Get Free Report, were forced to take a close look at their bottom line and make some hard decisions. In the case of Amazon, this meant a slow drip of employee layoffs. And for Walmart, it meant making the impactful decision to close some stores. Walmart's upcoming 2024 store closures Closing stores can be a tough decision no matter what the retailer, but Walmart's proximity to a majority of the U.S. population has always been a bright spot on its resume. This can make store closures especially painful not just for Walmart and its bottom line but also for the folks who rely so heavily on it for everything from groceries to household staples. (Photo by: Jeffrey Greenberg/Universal Images Group via Getty Images) Jeff Greenberg/Getty Images In 2023, Walmart closed 24 stores in total, up from the originally slated 15. These closures affected 14 states and Washington, D.C., with four stores closing in Chicago and eight closing across the state of Illinois, the most of any state. For the most part, Walmart blamed underperformance and theft as a central reason for the closures. "These stores lose tens of millions of dollars a year, and their annual losses nearly doubled in just the last five years," Walmart said in a press release, adding, "We have invested hundreds of millions of dollars in the city [of Chicago]... It was hoped that these investments would help improve our stores’ performance. Unfortunately, these efforts have not materially improved the fundamental business challenges our stores are facing." Now, Walmart will continue on its path of closures into 2024. As of now, the retailer only plans to close two locations in the state of California. They are: Walmart Neighborhood Market on Imperial Avenue, San DiegoWalmart at Fletcher Parkway, El Cajon The primary reason cited for the closures was that Walmart could not reach an agreement on leasing terms with the space's owners. Both locations are expected to close on Feb. 9, 2024 and the affected employees will be re-homed elsewhere within the company.
