Too many people drive giant pick up trucks
This is a problem that is not being spoken about enough. People driving these giant F150s when they don't need them. It is hurting road infrastructure and making driving more dangerous for other drivers. It is no secret that a lot of the bad driving people experience in Ontario largely come from these monstrosities. I don't mind if you work in construction or are constantly having to transport heavy and dirty material because it would make sense to drive a pick up. The issue are the ones buying them because it makes them feel more like a man or have a false sense of security or because they might have to tow something once in their lifetime. edit: to those saying I need to mind my own business. *AITA for rolling my eyes at my boyfriend's proposal because it took 25 years of me begging?*
Yesterday after dinner my (52F) boyfriend of 30 years (53M) proposed to me. He just walked towards me holding a box and said to open it. It was a ring and I had pictured this moment a million different times but never thought I'd be so apathetic. My boyfriend then said that he was retired now and wants to kick back and enjoy life with me, and would love to do it all with me as his wife. A nice speech and all but from the 5 year mark of our relationship onwards, I had been making clear my deep desire to marry, and was consistently dismissed, given empty promises, gaslit. We had been through the gamut with therapy and one counselor implied that me telling him we needed to go to therapy and getting his butt on the couch still means nothing if his mind has been made up. I was in denial about the fact he was just giving me the false illusion of progress to stall. My boyfriend and I have 4 kids. The oldest 3 are adults, while the youngest is 15F ( was sleeping over elsewhere when this all went down). All of our kids went to a private school filled with typical Southern soccer parents. I had to endure PTA moms' jabs about me not sharing a last name with my kids. Preteen years were hell because the other kids would taunt my kids by saying "Your dad would rather sin and go to hell than marry your mom!" My BF's mom would tell him marriage would be selfish on my part; it is just a piece of paper. My BF ended up rising up the ranks until he became an executive. I was a SAHM so I felt like there was always a power imbalance, exasperated by the fact I could be tossed any time. I partly did stay because I wanted my kids to have the best life and because I felt lucky and proud to be partnered with such an intelligent, successful man, but also because I loved him. These past few years my boyfriend's career has taken a downturn. He will never be poor, but the company he was part of took a nosedive during 2020 and he had made enemies out of associates/ board members. He decided to step back from his role and take the generous severance agreed upon. Now he is living off his investments and wants to relax. I'm flying out of ATL today and the amount of obviously sick people in the airport is absolutely astonishing. The craziest thing is no one is wearing a mask. They're all openly coughing. Not even covering their faces. Airports or airlines should do something about this. There aren't even soft messages like. "Feeling sick? Please mask up to protect our staff and passengers." Nothing at all. How is knowingly being sick around others without wearing a mask any different than assault? Why do people do this? Why in the fuck would you knowingly expose strangers to getting sick from you? Goddamn people are just such selfish pieces of shit. Edit: lol I should've guessed this would get a bunch of angry rebuttals by selfish assholes who think simply throwing a mask on while sick is some huge fucking deal and that getting other people sick is just totally cool and fine. Goddamn y'all are just such assholes. Edit 2: Note how most of the angry people disagreeing that wearing a mask is common decency keep bringing politics into this. Hmmm. I wonder why. Also note the amount of knuckle dragging dumb fucks here that are still claiming that masks don't work. What the fuck is wrong with you people. How can you just deny reality?
